C Series

The 3 weekends of the C Series produced a good mixture of conditions with a bit of a drifter for C1 and C2, becoming a bit blustery for C3 and C4, and ending with light to moderate for C5 and C6. In keeping with our somewhat messy season the Optimists, 3.7, and P Class had no valid races (a valid race requires 3 sailors of the class to sign in on the day of racing), and even our larger fleets could only manage 4 out of the available 6 races. There were competing events like the Taupo Regatta on the first Saturday, a destination sail at Raglan the second Saturday, and various of the adult skippers seem to have achieved a state of injury or exhaustion.
Each of the three fleets with a valid series was won by a female sailor and I suspect that hasn't happened at HYC for a while and this was without our chief encourager, Helen, sailing. So Helen and coach Kirsten must be doing something right.
Our "summer" season is nearly over with just two weekends and one Wednesday sailing event left. This coming Saturday is the second Mark Foy event and the following Saturday is the Closing Regatta. It would be great to see big fleets for these two events.
