Sprints Series 1
HYC 2024-2025 season is well underway and today was not a bad sailing day at all for our first Sprint Series. NW 10kt average, with a fair amount of variation in strength, and the occasional swing to the west. Goldilocks conditions for Lake Rotoroa. Good water level, absent algae, no rain, not too hot, not too cold. Five quick-fire races were completed for the three fleets. Many thanks to Werner and Lucia for running the races. Enough elves turned up to let Werner out on the race course later in the afternoon, and it seems we may have found the recipe for letting someone else win in the ILCA fleet. Keep Werner on shore for atleast the first race, so he carries DNS score into the results. Congratulations to Scott in the ILCA, and Eoghan in the Starling, and Bernadine dusted off the winter cobwebs in the Zephyr. Sadly some of our junior sailors couldn't drag themselves away from the lure of exams and study. Remember, as long as you don't headbutt the boom, sailing is good for the brain.
